This is by far the most festive time of the year and to celebrate may I present to you the glitziest Glitter ‘N Glue DIY tutorial of 2012!!!! This crystal cuff is the perfect project to punctuate the end of the year. It’s also the perfect accessory to wear to that special New Year’s Eve party. It’s so major I felt it warranted an afternoon of crafts and cocktails with my friends. YEA PARTY!
Then apply a drop of glue to a toothpick and use the toothpick to apply the glue to the back of the crystal. This is the application method I personally like to use. I always make a big ole mess when I apply the glue to the back of the crystal directly from the tube.
Your design may change as you continue to apply your crystals, but my suggestion is to start with the center crystal and work your way out. At the end of the day the design is totally up to you. Have fun with it and always remember the more bling the better!!
Marie from The Curvy Fashionista crafted a very tribal inspired cuff.
Seriously talk about a great way to spend an afternoon with your friends. Everyone was so creative and took the time to custom design their cuffs. Everyone’s cuff spoke to their personality and no two cuffs looked alike.
Are you excited to try this project? Well in honor of the Holidays I’m GIVING AWAY the materials to make this cuff to one lucky reader. To enter simply follow me on twitter and tweet the follow:
@Glitter_N_Glue make my Holiday sparkle! #SparklingDIY

Did you know this month was Nation Craft Month?I know! I was thinking the same thing…Why isn’t this a National Holiday? Why didn’t we shut down schools and close banks and the post office in honor of National Craft Month? Well don’t worry, I’ve done my part in celebrating the month that honors creativity. I’ve been a very busy and crafty DIY bee all month.
Those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook know I attended the Craft and Hobby Association Convention earlier in the year. I love attending CHA because it’s the one time of the year I get to see all the new DIY products that will soon hit the shelves. I always leave the convention inspired and full of DIY ideas. This DIY tutorial is inspired by products I discovered at this years Craft and Hobby Association Convention.
Martha Stewart Crafts always delivers some new fun and innovative products. They recently developed a crafter’s clay that caught my attention. The Martha Stewart Craft’s Clay comes in an easy to use starter kit with 5 different color clay and all the materials you need to help you get started. They even provide 4 silicone molds to help you create shapes. I used the branch mold to create my Max & Chloe inspired branch necklace.
Allow the clay to dry in the open air at least 24 hours. While the clay is drying crate holes with toothpicks so that you can add the chain to the branch once it’s dry.
Another discovery from CHA was the Martha Stewart Liquid Gilding Paint (manufactured by Plaid Crafts) . Seriously, I’m so obsessed! You guys know how much I love metallics and with metallics being such a big trend in fashion this season this product is the perfect addition to your DIY kit.
I know it’s hard to see the necklace in this picture, but I wanted a chance to show off my $750 Milly dress I picked up on sale from Bloomy’s for $150! Gotta love a good sale!!!
Here’s a better shot of my clay necklace I simple added jump rings through the holes I created in the branch and connected the chain to it. Literally just that simple! Add lobster claws clasp to the back of the necklace for a simple closure.
Now you know a National Craft Month celebration isn’t a party without a giveaway, right?!?!?!?! Well the lovely folks at Plaid Crafts would like to give one luck Glitter ‘N Glue the liquid gilding paint in gold… silver… AND rose gold! That’s right! You can win a supply of the Martha Stewart Liquid Gilding paint in every color they make. To enter simply leave a note in the comment section below letting me know:

Last month my friend Jenni from I Spy DIY was in town to host a DIY party at the Soho House LA. We had such a fantastic time making bold fashion accessories. Her technique for making tribal necklaces gave me the inspiration for embellishing headbands. I think embellished headbands make the perfect gift for that girlie girl on your Holiday list…
Continue to wrap your thread around the headband, weaving it in and out of the rhinestones. Should you decide to change colors, simply knot the two threads together. Be sure that the knot is hidden underneath the headband.
From far away this headband reminds me of one of my fancy rhinestone covered friendship bracelets. I love this project because it really allows you be be creative. You can pick different colors and come up with your own pattern. It’s a fun gift for the right girl and it’s also lots of fun to make. As of today, I’ve given you 11 new DIY projects that hopefully inspired you to make some fun gifts. And with only one more day left to this gift guide I’d love to know…
Question: Have you gotten/made a gift for everyone on your list?
Have you finished all your shopping? Or do you still have more gifts to get? I’d love to know. Leave your answers below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. I’ve developed a slight obsession with the gold leafing process ever since I leafed my iPhone case. This week alone I applied the gold goodness to 2 picture frames, a vase, a pair of earrings and a wood bangle. It’s such an easy way to transform something dull into something ahhhhhmazing! I thought a gold vanity set is the perfect gift for all my beauty lovers out there. My Great Grandmother had a gold vanity set that sat on her dresser and I always admired it.
And there you have it…3 steps to fabulous! Such a fun idea I just had to show you twice. The Midas touch vanity set is the perfect gift for all the beauty lovers on your list. I have a few beauty blogger friends that should expect to see these in their stockings with a note attached that says “Happy Holidays! Love, Kristen” Which leads me to the question of the day…
Question: What’s your favorite beauty product?
There’s a tie for my two fave products… 1. the Proactiv makeup remover cloths (they’re like magic) and 2. Rimmel London’s Max Volume Lash Mascara. I use both of these products on a daily basis and don’t now how to function without them. I’d love to hear your favorite. Leave your answers below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a gold leafing starter kit so you can give the Midas touch to whatever your desire! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game for a few more days! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.

Awwww the infinity scarf. I only recently discovered the magical powers of the infinity scarf. I love these things and think they’d make a great gift. It’s inevitable that every year my Mom will end up giving someone a scarf. I hope this year she makes it fancy like this…
The infinity scarf kept me warm as I sat by the fire and got an early jump on wrapping gifts. May I just add how proud I am that it’s December 8th and I’m already wrapping gifts. I have been known to wrap a gift on Christmas morning minutes before the family gathers around the tree. So happy to be ahead of the game this year.
My scarf was inspired by the fab decor in the new Tory Burch flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York. I love all the different shades of purple and the tie dye effect used on those ottomans. Tory always uses bold colors in her designs. So I’d love to know…
Question: What’s your favorite color?
When I was a little girl purple was my favorite color. I wanted everything I owned to be purple!!! Now I’d have to say I’m a huge fan of green because it looks the best on me. I’d love to hear what your favorite color is. Leave your answers below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win selection of different colored dyes from Rit Dye! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.
For more images of the Tory Burch store check here and check out one of my favorite decor and design blogs, So Haute! I have hours of fun looking at the images on this blog and always walk away with tons of inspiration.

First let me start off by apologizing to my 70-year-old Aunt DeDe. She’s gets an email every time I post something and I’m sure she “clutching the pearls” right now because the word “Ass” just popped up in her inbox. So sorry Aunt DeDe, but it’s the name of a book. Not my book, but abook written by my super crafty friend Mark Montano. Mark has written many craft books. I’m a fan of them all, but Big-Ass Book Of Crafts 2 had one particularly genius project that I’m absolutely in love with. Glittery nails are all the rage right now which makes this project so timely. DIY glitter nail polish! It makes for a fantastic stocking stuffer…
Roll up a piece of paper to make a funnel and pour the glitter directly into your clear nail polish. Obviously I excel at pouring and not making a mess! After you’ve poured as much glitter as possible into the polish, shake well until mixed.
Question: The glitter trend… here to stay? Or please make it go away?
If you’re a fan of Glitter ‘N Glue and entering to win my giveaways I’m assuming you’ll type in all caps… HERE TO STAY! lol Let me know your thoughts about the glitter bomb that seems to have exploded all over the fashion industry. Leave your answers below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a copy of Big Ass Book Of Crafts 2 by Mark Montano AND a assortment of different colored glitter so you can make your own polish! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win. And just so we’re clear there is a right answer for this question
PS: Thanks to my Dad for playing photographer! He was really getting into it ya’ll. Like his name was David Lachapelle #NotThatSeriousDad xoxo

Every girl loves receiving jewelry as a gift. For those of you who have been following my blog for a while I’m sure you remember when I did this post last season. Well I absolutely love those earrings and I have a few girls on my list they’d make great gifts for this year.
Viola! Statement earrings! No one would have ever guessed they use to be Christmas ornaments. My friend Sydne (read her blog Think Thru Fashion) is all about fashion staples. She says that my fashion staple is a statement pair of earrings. I guess I’d have to agree with her. My everyday earring is always a pair of oversized hoops (al la Jennifer Lopez aka J.Lo aka Jenny from the block) and when I’m all dressed up for evening I’m usually wearing an oversize pair of earrings with bling on them. I guess it’s my thing. So I’m wondering…
Question: What’s your statement? What signature piece of clothing would your friends say you’re known for?
Maybe it’s a watch? Or maybe you’re the Queen of ballet flats? Or maybe you own 808 pairs of jeans? Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a $25 gift card to Michael’s Craft Store! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win. Trust me this project is so fun you might end up keeping it for yourself!

Congrats Karen! You won the $25 gift card to Michael’s!
Regardless of if your Team iPhone or Team Blackberry, our phones have become an extension of our arm and therefore an important fashion accessory. There’s nothing wrong with adding a little excitement to your cell phone case. I personally love my metallic gold iPhone case because it makes it easier to find in the bottomless pit I call a purse. This project is so fun you might end up keeping it for yourself…
Apply the gold leaf applicator. Allow to dry for 30 mins.
I switched to team I phone over a year ago. Don’t get me wrong, I L.O.V.E. my iPhone but I really miss my bbm. So I’m curious…
Question: iPhone or Blackberry? And if you have a iPhone what are your favorite apps?
As of right now I have ZERO apps on my phone besides Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Maybe if I’d download some cool apps I woudn’t miss my bbm so much. Fill me in, what are the iPhone apps I must have? Are there any good fashion ones? Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win an iPhone case from InCase AND a gold leaf starter kit! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win. Trust me this project is so fun you might end up keeping it for yourself!

One of my favorite DIYs from the summer was the Diana Ross inspired sequin beach cover up. With a quick fabric change the beach cover up is transformed into a fabulous Fall cape! It also makes a great gift for that fashion forward lady on your list…
Fold your fabric in half. Then cut a “V” shape at the fold for your head to fit through. On the same front panel cut 2 slits in the middle of the fabric about a foot apart from each other. These slits will become the belt loops. Leave the back panel completely whole.
Loop the leather trim through the two belt slits in the front panel. Wrap the trim around your waist and back through the loops. 2 yards of trim should be enough to wrap the belt around you twice. Leave the back panel complete free. It’s officially become your superwoman cape!
It’s amazing what a yard of fabric can become! Even though I live in Los Angeles and it doesn’t get as cold in SoCal as it does in other parts of the country, I’m always excited about the season change. A change in weather means a change in wardrobe! I’m curious…
Question: What’s your favorite Fall fashion trend?
Capes? Faux fur? Metallics? Personally, I’m a fan of colored opaque tights and wear them all season long. Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a $25 gift card to Jo Anns Fabrics! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.

I love to spend my weekend mornings sipping coffee (in my mug I picked up this Summer while visiting the Eiffle Tower gift shop), flipping through fashion magazines looking for inspiration and writing in my journal. It’s the best way to relax and collect my thoughts. At the beginning of every year I always pick up a new blank journal and then spend the next 365 days filling with list, ideas and aspirations. Journals make for great gifts!
Give the gift of inspiration this year! A few years ago I was lucky enough to have been invited to a brunch at the Los Angeles home of Diane Von Furstenberg. At the brunch we got to tour parts of her home, socialize and of course look at her latest collection. As parting gift we were all give bags full of DVF goodies. In my bag was a spiral bound journal with a quote from Diane inscribes on the inside cover, “Be the woman you want to be! <3 Diane”. I cherished this journal and it became my inspiration journal for the year. In it I wrote a years worth of hopes, dreams and ideas. Every time I open the journal and look at that quote, I’m inspired. I have a long list of hardworking and determined women, like Ms. DVF, who inspire my and I would love to know…
Question: Who is on your list of people that inspire you?
Is it your Mom or Grandma? Maybe it’s a grade school teacher? Or maybe it’s Barbra… Streisand or Walters? Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a new collection of my favorite color paints from Plaid Crafts from my personal collection! Color has truly inspired me this year and I’d love to share with the winner. Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.

Electronics are a hot gif item during the Holidays. This season many have added the iPad to their wish list. Well here’s an idea, why don’t you make the perfect iPad case for the treasured jewel of technology? It’s inexpensive, unique and easy…
Use the marker as your guide and hand stitch the mat together leaving an opening at the top. Also, be sure to leave at least a half inch seam allowance on each side. Any additional fabric can be removed with scissors.
I love my iPad! I almost never leave home without it. Even though I initially purchased it for my Dad, for some reason it ended up in my purse and never made it to his house. Strange how that happened. People are always so excited when Apple releases new products. People camp out and stand in line for hours so they can be among the first to have the latest and the greatest. That got me thinking….
Question: Have you ever camped out or waited hours in line to purchase anything?
Yep I’m looking at all you guys who camped out for Black Friday! Did you occupy the mall to score the Versace for H&M collection? I wanna hear the stories. Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you win a $25 gift card to Bed, Bath and Beyond! Do you know how many placemat iPad covers you can buy for $25? Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.

Congrats Benita! You won the $25 Bed, Bath & Beyond gift card.
This year has been the year of the arm! From Man Repeller’s Arm Parties to the rebirth of the friendship bracelet, wrists seem to be getting all the attention these days. It’s not about chunky bangles but it’s all about the tiny bracelet…. lots and lots of tiny bracelets. There’s nothing like a wristful of bracelets. I’m sure over the past year we’ve all perfected the art of layering our favorite collection of colorful bracelets. This season, why don’t you give the give of a hardware embellished bracelet? Add one more to her collection…
Who says materials from the hardware store have to be used for just home improvement projects? Not me! The guys in the plumbing department at my local hardware store no longer ask me what I’m working on when they see me wondering the isles. It’s a known fact that whatever I’m doing with the materials, one thing I will NOT be doing is fixing a toilet!
Here’s your chance to stock up on nuts, bolts, pipes and other DIY hardware materials by winning a $25 gift card to Home Depot.
Question: What do you do to set the mood while you’re crafting?
Do you craft with the tv on? While watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Maybe you like to listen to music and sip a glass of wine? Or maybe you like it absolutely quiet while you get your DIY on! Remember there is no right answer. Personally, I like to listen to Beyonce when I’m getting crafty. (…and sometimes while I wait for glue to dry I turn up Single Ladies and do the dance in front of my mirror… shhhh please don’t tell anyone) Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you’re the winner! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this game all week! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.

Congrats Sheila! You won the $25 Home Depot Gift Card.
Candy canes remind me of Christmas as a child. My Grandparents would decorate their Christmas trees with them and my mom would tape them to the envelopes of her greeting cards (as if to say sorry you’re not getting a box from me but here’s a lovely greeting card AND a candy cane). When I see those red and white sugar sticks I think of all the wonderful things associated with the Holidays like cold weather, warm fires, family and friends. That’s why I yell out a big “OH NO HE DIDN’T!” when the Grinch steals that candy cane right out of the sleeping Whos hands. Don’t take the candy cane!
This DIY project was inspired by the official, unofficial candy of the Christmas season…the candy cane.
*It’s important to that your candy is not crystallized because it will break. Not sure the what the different is? Just think… the crystallized peppermints are the ones you pick up at the hostess stand on your way out of a restaurant. Stay away from those. You want the soft peppermints like the ones your Grandma keeps in that glass dish in the living room by the phone. I used the Bob’s Sweet Stripes brand that I purchased from Target.
String your peppermint candy through the wire. If you’re having a hard time stringing the candy, use a big needle to help work the wire through. Or if you have access to a drill with a small bit, drill a hole directly through the candy.
Dress by Giambattista Valli for Macy’s
This necklace makes for a fun and festive gift as well as the perfect accessory for all those Holiday parties.
Wait there’s more… I’m in the gift giving mood and will be spreading the love with a series of giveaways! Today’s giveaway is courtesy of TARGET (<–said in my best Oprah voice)!!!!! Yes, today you have the chance to win a $50 gift card to one of my favorite places on earth and the one stop shop for all your Holiday needs. Here’s how it’s works (aka the rules): I’ll ask a question and you answer in the comment section below. It’s that simple.
Question: What’s your favorite kind of candy?
It doesn’t have to be seasonal candy and there is no right answer. Personally I’m addicted to the watermelon flavored Sour Patch Kids, but I want to hear what kind of candy satisfies your sweet tooth. Leave your answer below. Contest ends tonight at 9pm pst and with the help of a fancy number generating system, a number will be selected. If your answer falls in the comment box that corresponds with the selected number…you’re the winner! Don’t worry if you don’t win today because we’re playing this name for the next 12 days! Each day is a new DIY project, a new prize and a new chance to win.

I know for some of my reader the leaves are changing, the air is getting colder or maybe you’ve already had your first snow. Well, here in LA we’re now only reaching a daily high of about 60 -65 which means it’s officially winter. Ok I’m exaggerating a little but it is time for me to put away the sandals and pull out the flats. Which reminds me, my current wardrobe is lacking in the flats department because last season I ruined my favorite pair.
This was actually the first pair of Loubous that I ever bought. I ate noodles for weeks to pay for them. I’ll spare you guys the gruesome picture of my flats in their current state, but just so you know there’s a whole in the bottom of one of the shoes. And I’ve already had them resoled twice
Dum dum dum dummmm…Beads In A Bottle to the rescue! At last years Craft And Hobby Association Conference I stopped by the I Love To Create booth and was introduced to the Tulip’s Beads In A Bottle! (For those of you who don’t know, CHA is a convention where craft bands unveil their latest and greatest products for the new year. It’s serious business.) A few months later they finally hit the shelves at Michael’s and I scooped up one in every color. I’ve been holding on to them all year, until now…
Do you want to test out the Beads In A Bottle? Like I said, I picked up ever pack Michael’s had so I’d love to clean out my craft closet and send one lucky reader a few tubes. Just follow me on Twitter (@Glitter_N_Glue) and tell me what you would do with the Beads In A Bottle. Most creative answer gets a fresh supply sent directly to them straight from my craft closet. Good Luck!
You never know when DIY inspiration will hit you. The other day I was lounging in bed watching Lara Spencer on Good Morning America talk about pandas or goats or something when her super fancy necklace caught my attention. It was gold, shiny and literally made me move closer to the TV for a better look! The necklace was gorgeous. It reminded me of something tribal or ancient Egyptian. I was inspired to get crafty…

Talk about Christmas in July! We’ll I know it’s technically June, but early this month M&J Trimming sent me a box of DIY supplies and it felt like Christmas! Seriously M&J is my favorite craft supplier in NYC so when they asked me to participate in their 2 annual DIY blogger challenge I couldn’t say no.
As you guys can see, the box had a little bit of everything in it. It was full of bright colors, fantastic trimmings and shiny rhinestones which inspired me to create 5 fashion DIY projects!
Included in the box was a bag of colorful rhinestone and you guys know how I feel about shiny things! Here’s a sneak peak of the Dolce and Gabbana inspired flats I made with them.
