VIDEO: DIY Sequin ‘N Stripes Tank Top + My Mom
My Mom and I have a very special relationship. She’s my best friend! We chat a few times a day and now that she’s learned how to send text messages on her flip phone (she’s #TeamFlipPhone for life) she’s always sending me pictures of DIY “inspiration” pics that I should to make for her. She treats my blog like the Spiegel Catalog… she sees something she likes, picks up the phone and places her order!
In honor of Mother’s Day, I figured I would assist my Mom with her first, ever DIY project. Together we crafted a Marc Jacobs inspired sequin and stripe top!
Are you making anything for your Mom this Mother’s Day?
Please don’t forget to like the video, subscribe to the channel and share it with a friend… or Mom!
Happy Mother’s Day!

DIY: Sequin Cap Toe Flats
Comfy flats are a necessity in every girls wardrobe, but just because basic doesn’t be they have to be boring. Make your flats sparkle by adding a few sequins to them.
Materials: Flats (Kami flats available at Sole Society), Sequins, Tacky Glue, Tweezers
Using your tweezers, apply a small amount of glue to the back of your sequin and add the sequin to your shoe. Start at the tip of your flat and work our way out. Allow at least an hour for the glue to dry before you wear them.
My sequin flats perfectly compliment my new red haute Sole Society handbag. In case you missed the announcement on my Instagram, Sole Society now has a collection of hangbags. YES HONEY! SS is quickly becoming my one stop shop for accessories. Checkout their entire collection here. They’re all leather and gorg! They’ll be releasing a new collection of bags next month, some a lower price point. I can’t wait to see them!!!!!!!!!!

DIY: Repurposed Vintage Sequin Top
Once upon a time, in a land far away… I repurposed one of my favorite vintage sequin tops. Seriously it seems like many, many lifetimes ago but back in 2010 when my blog was about 3 days old (no lie) I partnered with MadisonPlus.com and reworked a sequin top.
I had purchased a really glam black and gold sequin top from my local vintage store with the intention of working it into my wardrobe, but how often do we purchase a statement piece and NEVER wear it?!? After letting the top hang in my closet for a few months, I figured if removed the zipper from the back, add a front closure and transform this top it into a jacket I might get some wear out of it. What I fantastic idea that was! My sequin top is now one of my favorite jackets. I wear as an accent piece over my LBDs or I mix it up by pairing it with boyfriend jeans and a printed tank.

Gotta love my neon Shoemint pumps!
Karl Lagerfeld is not impressed
PS: I love taking a walk down memory lane from time to time. I really get to see how much mu blog has grown. Thanks so much for all your love and support over the years. A special thank you to The Style And Beauty Doctor Danielle Gray for braving the LA heat and back alleys to take this pics! xo
DIY: Sequin Heart Shaped Purse
Valentine’s is days away… show of hands who has a hot date?!?! Well don’t be too jealous of me because I’ll be spending my Valentine’s night curled up on my couch, playing kissy face with a quart of Haagen Dazs rocky road ice cream and watching SCANDAL!! #OkBeJealous Anywho, if I had plans on Thursday night that required me to put on actually clothes and not just my PJs, this heart shaped sequined purse would be my go to accessory. It’s so festive and so easy to make!
Materials: Sturdy Fabric*, Sequins, Glue, Needle and Thread, Chain, Safety Pins, Scissors
*I used an ultra suede fabric for this project
Create a heart shaped stencil* out of paper then trace the shape directly to your fabric.
*Be sure to add about a half inch seam allowance to your stencil
Cut out two equally shaped fabric hearts.
Place your fabric pieces one on top of another and use your needle and thread and sew up the sides. Be sure to leave an opening for your purse and DO NOT sew up the top of the heart.
After you’ve sewn up the sides, flip your heart right side out to hide your seam.
Add a health amount of glue and apply your sequins
Completely cover your hear in sequins
Using your safety pins, attach the chain to the inside of your heart
PS: These gold cap top pumps are also DIY. Click here for that tutorial.
DIY: Sequin Embellished Valentine’s Day Cards
I’m notorious for never getting Holiday cards in the mail in time. My Christmas cards usually arrive around New Years and you might get your Birthday card the month after. I’m really telling on myself here but I just mailed my niece and nephew’s Valentine’s Day cards… that I purchased for them last year! Yes, I bought them last year, addressed them, added stickers to the envelope and NEVER mailed them. The cards have been sitting on my desk for an entire year!! #DontJudge
This year I’m determined to craft my Valentine’s AND get them in the mail on time. This project is quick and easy and adds a very glamorous touch to your love notes.
Materials: Blank Cards*, Sequin Trim, Glue, Scissors and a Pencil
*I purchase these blank cards from Paper Source (20 for $6.75) but you can create your own cards by folding over a piece of construction paper or card stock.
Use a pencil to hand write your personal message
Trace over your letters with glue
Add the sequin trim over your glue and allow time to dry
DIY: Bouncy Ball Sequin Drop Earring
Last weekend I was invited to a Golden Globes party hosted by the chic and stylish Kelly of KellyGolightly.com. If you’re into fashion, food, traveling and entertaining then you should follow this lovely lady’s blog. She throws the best parties and gives such great ideas! Of course her Golden Globes party was well… golden down to every detail. If you follow me on the Instagram then you saw me post a picture of Kelly’s sequin golden globe earrings (here). I was obsessed! Kelly purchase her earrings at a thrift store, but today we’re making our own pair…
Materials: Bouncy Balls, Sequins, Glue, Chain, Earring Findings, Small Eye Screws
Kelly’s earrings reminded me of the sequin ornament tutorial I posted for Christmas. (Remember? No, click here to review) The process is very similar. To start add a dab of glue to the bottom of your bouncy ball. Then, place the end of the sequin trim in the glue and start wrapping. Apply glue as you wrap around the bouncy ball. Continue the process until the ball is completely covered.
Use a pair of pliers to attach the earring finding to the chain and the chain to the eye screw. Eye screws can be purchased at your local hardware store.
Screw the chain into your bouncy ball
There’s some good news for those of you that love this project as much as I do… THERE IS A GLITTER ‘N GLUE ASSEMBLY REQUIRED KIT AVAILABLE FOR THIS DIY PROJECT!
Click here to purchase the materials (minus glue and pliers) you’ll need to complete this project. The kit cost $13 and is available in gold, black or magenta. Enjoy! xo
DIY: Sequins ‘N Glue Christmas Ornament
Have you decorated your Christmas tree yet? Well the clear plastic ornament is THE craft material of the season. It’s a blank canvas that allows you to custom design and DIY your Christmas tree. This project is just one way (…of about a zillion) you could customize your ornament.
Materials: A Round Ornament, Sequin Trim, Glue
Apply a healthy amount of glue to the bottom or your ornament.
Place the end of the sequin trim in the glue and start wrapping. Continue to apply glue as you wrap around the ornament.
When you get to the top of your ornament, use your scissors and cut away any extra trim. Apply glue to the last sequin to be sure your trim is secure.
I used about 5 yards of trim to cover once ornament. At .50 cents per yard for trim plus the clear ornament ($1 from Michaels) this one ornament cost me about $3.50.
Fellow DIY blog Thanks, I Made It has complied a collection of crafty and creative DIY ornament projects from across the blogosphere including glitter ornaments, dipped ornaments, melted crayon ornaments and more! To view the full list click here.
DIY: Sequin Camera Strap
Smile… It’s National Camera Day! That’s right today is dedicated to the celebration of the camera and photography. I felt that, as a blogger, it’s only right I celebrate. You guys that follow me on twitter know that I purchased a new fancy camera at the beginning of the year. Well needless to say I’m just now learning how to properly operate it. Seriously, I had no idea what I was doing and up until about a 2 weeks ago I was using a black skinny belt as a camera strap. I made a promise to myself that I was going to do better. I recently enrolled in photography classes AND I switched the skinny belt for the real camera strap. In honor of National Camera Day and my new found love for photography here’s a quick and easy way to dress up your camera strap.
Materials: Your Camera Strap, Sequin Trim, Tacky Glue
Simply apply a health amount of glue to the strap and place the trim into place. Allow 1 hour to dry then pose for the camera know flick, flick, flick. Happy National Camera Day!!!
An Afternoon With Asos
This week I was invited to spend an afternoon at Soho House Los Angeles sipping tea and taking a sneak peek at the latest from ASOS. I’m SUCH a fan. ASOS has a little something, something for everyone. Their clothes are at a great price point and they have clothes for all shapes and sizes. The designers at ASOS are also fans of the bling and embellish lots of their pieces with sequins (<-you guys know I’m loving that)!

My DIY glitter platform pumps came out of the closet and made an appearance at the preview. The sun was shining and I was feeling very bright and bold.
The Look: Vintage H&M Floral Dress (Vintage because I bought it last year), Classic Dooney and Bourke, DIY Platform Pumps (My DIY tutorial available –> here)
There were so many pieces that I wanted from ASOS for Summer. And stay tuned because their Fall collection is spectacular! Alas, since I do not yet have the Cher Horowitz closet of my dreams, I’ll have to make do with my Pinterest virtual closet. Click here to see the latest “I want” goodies from ASOS I pinned to my virtual closet board.
