Do you struggle to understand what all of the many different makeup brushes are used for? In this post, we have made a guide to the most common makeup brushes and what purpose they have.
Powder brush
A slightly larger and more fluffy brush used to apply compact pads evenly across the face, to get a matte result that lasts all day. It can also be used if you want to add bronzer to look tan.
Blush brush
One size smaller than the powder brush. This soft brush can be used for both powder and liquid products to define and sculpt the face. Used to apply rouge or bronzer.
Foundation brush
This brush is often a little harder in the straw and has short, dense brushes. Use this brush to apply your liquid foundation with.
Concealer brush
A narrow and flat brush with fairly firm straws. This brush is for applying concealer with, for example, on pimples or on the dark rings under the eyes.
Shadow brush
Similar concealer brush but a little softer. It is used to apply eyeshadow on top of the eyelid. The brush below can be used dry or moist, depending on how strong the color of shade you want.
Eye and brow brush
A hard, oblique brush that you can use to paint the eyebrows with or to paint a liquid eyeliner.
Highlighter brush
A brush specifically designed for highlighter and strobing. The long brushes easily apply powder, cream or liquid highlighter to the cheekbones, nose, forehead, and chin.
Lip brush
A narrower and slightly glossier brush that is used to apply an even layer of lipstick or lip gloss.
