How to Apply Mascara Like a Pro

One of the easiest ways to draw attention to your eyes and create an elegant and flirty look is by adding mascara. Mascara is an important component to make your eyes stand out, and generally such an important part of makeup that it should not be ignored.

Mascara has the ability to not only darken your lashes; it also gives length and thickness. It does not matter how good your eye shadow looks, or what amazing techniques you have used for the rest of your makeup. Without good-looking lashes, you will lose the full potential of your make-up.

Mascara has many benefits:

Adds length

Mascara gives length to your eyelashes, which gives them a more dramatic and stylish effect.

Volume and thickness

Mascara gives volume and thickness to your eyelashes, which results in a look with more fullness and volume.

Color

Mascara adds color to your lashes, and is also available in a variety of colors. The advantage of this is that you can choose color based on makeup and hair color, but also make them more clear and distinct.

The make-up may look unfinished

Without mascara, a make-up can look unfinished. The mascara is therefore the last touch for a perfect make-up.

Bending

Mascara helps to bend your eyelashes, which makes them look more dramatic. This is especially important if you tend to have straight lashes, but also works as an effective complement for you with already curved lashes as well.

Find the right one

Choosing the right mascara can be tricky. There are endless mascaras on the market. To make it even harder, there is not just one type of mascara either. There are mascara that lengthens, enlarges, colors, and does a variety of things. With that said, the options can undeniably be confusing. Here are some things to keep in mind when buying and choosing mascara.

Formula

Should your lashes lengthen, become curved, thicken, or fuller? If you want longer eyelashes, mascara is very effective. Fuller eyelashes need volume, and some mascaras promise to do both at the same time. Read about the mascara to see what it promises. Furthermore, you should identify what exactly your eyelashes need. Are they long and thin? Or maybe thick but straight? Once you have identified your needs, it will be easier to find a mascara that promises this, and you can more easily know what to look for.

Water resistance

Waterproof mascara is good for people who plan or need to wear it all day. Waterproof mascara is fantastically effective if you are going to be in the sun or sweating.

It also helps maintain a bend that you give your lashes with an eyelash curler. However, it is more difficult to remove waterproof mascara so make sure you have a good remover that is specially designed to remove waterproof mascara. A tip is to invest in a good mascara remover that is kind to the eyes. If you wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes, it may be best to find mascara that is hypoallergenic to avoid irritating eyes.

Based on what to do, do you need a waterproof mascara?

Color

This one is pretty light. Black mascara gives the impression of larger eyes and a more complete effect. Although you can choose from many different shades, black will give the best result for full-bodied, thick lashes that everyone will envy. But if you have very light hair and skin, you may find that a lot of black mascara can be perceived as overwhelming and too much. Try using a brown / black mascara to apply mascara that is a little more discreet.

Tips for using mascara

Do not pump the magic wand in and out of the bottle. This forces air into the tube, which means that the mascara dries faster and causes clumping. Instead, gently twist back and forth or in circular motions to pick up the desired amount of mascara on the brush.

If you decide to bend your lashes, start at the root of the lashes and be careful not to get any skin in the brush. Squeeze and hold the lash curler for about 10 seconds and move the curl out to the end of your lashes and repeat. Again, this step is optional, but it does it for longer looking lashes and enlarges the eyes.

When removing the brush from the tube, be sure to scrape off excess mascara from the brush. This will help you avoid making your lashes clumsy.

Whether you start with your wonders or lashes is entirely up to you. For the best application, look straight ahead, take the brush and place it at the root of your lashes. If you use a back and forth motion when you move the brush up along your lashes and sweep upwards, it will help your lashes to have a curved effect. Keep repeating this until you get your lashes as thick as you want, usually 2-3 layers.

An additional tip is to tilt your head slightly forward so that you do not get mascara on your cheek. Use the same movements from side to side until you get a good layer of mascara on the lower lashes. If you have problems applying mascara from your lashes to your eyelids or cheeks, use a business card, credit card or small piece of paper and hold over the area while applying your mascara.

To make your eyelashes look even thicker, a trick is to apply a layer of black eyeliner on the upper waterline of the eyes. To do this, pull up your lashes just a little and run the black eyeliner on top of the inner line.

Wash eyelashes

It is important to have a good foundation when applying mascara.

Therefore, be sure to wash your eyes and eyelashes before. Oil and dirt can ruin your look and make it harder to apply.

Brush off the lumps

If you have eyelashes that have stuck together, or have lumps of mascara on them (or both) then you can comb them out with a clean mascara brush. This is an effective way to make your eyelashes look absolutely perfect.
