How to Remove Super Glue From Your Clothes

Maybe you helped your kids glue, or maybe the broken lamp needed to be fixed. Either way, super glue is something that can come in handy a lot of times. If something breaks, it can be a true savior, or if you just want to modify or build something, it can be really effective.

When using superglue, the price you may have to pay is traces of superglue on your pants and clothes. Super glue is an incredibly strong “liquid”, whether you work with glass, plastic, vinyl, porcelain, metal, even fabric. And it dries almost immediately, so you don’t have any time to clean up a mistake. Fortunately, it is not impossible to remove super glue from clothing.

You need:

  • Acetone nail polish remover
  • Toothbrushes.
  • Blunt knife.

How to remove super glue from your clothes

1. Rub the top of the stain with acetone nail polish remover and a toothbrush.

Acetone is the same thing nail shops use to remove fake acrylic nails. In many cases, they hold the nails down with superglue, and the glue comes off with acetone. Well, it’s the same concept when trying to remove super glue from clothes. Just pour a little on the stain and brush.

2. Reverse the process, and rub the lower side of the stain with a toothbrush.

This helps to release glue from both sides. Repeat until you have brushed the stain out.

3. Scrape the stain with a blunt knife.

If it’s an old stain, it can’t come off easily, even with a powerful toothbrush rub. So pour some acetone onto the stain and gently scrape with a blunt knife. Make sure you do not damage your clothing.
