DIY: Rose Goldish (aka Copper) Wire LOVE Bracelet
Now we all know how I love a nice piece of chunky statement jewelry, but sometimes something dainty, delicate and demure is all you need (<- please read in your best Southern accent). I’ve seen these wire bracelets floating around Pinterest for awhile now and they continue to catch my eye. I don’t often work with wire, but these style bracelets are just too adorable not to give one a try. I dreaming of a copper (the broke girl’s rose gold) bracelet that reads LOVE in honor of Valentine’s.
Materials: Wire*, pliers (round and flat nose), nippers
* I used a 16 gauge wire for this project.
TIP: When shopping for wire remember the lower the gauge number, the stronger your wire will be.
My local jewelry supply store was out of copper wire so I picked up this 16 gauge wire from the hardware store. Cut a piece of wire that is about 8 inches in length.
About 4 inches from one end, use the round nose pliers to start shaping your letters.
I gave this the old college try and was very informal with my wrapping. I basically pulled, bended and forced the wire to lay the way I wanted. It took me a few tries before I got something I really like, but I guess practice makes perfect when it comes to this sort of thing. However, Aimee from Swellmayde has a wonderful wire wrapping tutorial that’s really helpful. She shows you how to create the words by tracking over your own handwriting. Click here for that helpful tutorial.
To create the closure, simply bend one end of the wire to create a hook.
Bend the other end of the wire in a hook going the opposite direction. Interlock the hooks to close.
Once I get good at making letters I’m going to make a bracelet with my name on it. Then I’ll make a bracelet with my boyfriend’s name on it…once I get a boyfriend.
Happy Valentine’s my loves! xo

so pretty – I’ll definitely give this a try!
